Ukraine-Malwettbewerb – Botschaft
Lieber Herr Prof. Scheremeta!
Shalom – Worte des Friedens und der Freude!
Wir schicken Ihnen diesen biblischen Gruß ganz bewusst als einen Ausdruck unseres christlichen Glaubens und unserer Hoffnung, als Ausdruck unserer Solidarität mit Ihnen und den vielen Menschen in der Ukraine, die eine große Kriegsnot durchleben müssen. Mit dieser Botschaft drücken wir auch unseren Dank aus an Sie für das Privileg, an Ihrer Initiative teilhaben zu können, die Kindern und Jugendlichen, den Menschen in Ihrer Umgebung allgemein, Räume zum Auf- und Durchatmen, zur Ermutigung, zum schöpferischen Wirken und somit zur Erfahrung der heilsamen Nähe Gottes ermöglicht.
Wir denken an die inneren Räume und auch an die äußeren Räume: die Innenräume, in denen Sie Ihre Jugend-Wettbewerbe durchführen und die im Freien, die „Gärten der Hoffnung.“ Wenn sich die Kinder und Jugendlichen in diesen inneren und äußeren Räumen frei, geschützt und gestalterisch bewegen, erschaffen und gestalten sie auch ihre eigenen, persönlichen Innenräume – ihre Seelen – in einer Art und Weise, in der die Samen des Friedens und der Lebensfreude wachsen und gedeihen können.
Sie haben den Wettbewerb „Schöpfungsverantwortung “ heuer zum 15. Mal durchgeführt, davon zum 4. Mal in Zeiten der Kriegsnot, ausgelöst durch einen Angriff Russlands auf das Territorium und gegen die Menschen Ihres Landes. Wir sind überzeugt, dass in diesen vielen Jahren viele gute Samen in den Menschen gepflanzt und gewachsen sind, die an diesen Aktivitäten teilgenommen haben und noch teilnehmen.
In Zeiten solcher Not ist Ihre Vorgangsweise besonders hilfreich und heilsam: die Erfahrung des Positiven, des gewaltlosen Miteinanders im Wettbewerb, das sowohl den Sinn für Gemeinschaft stärkt und für Solidarität, gleichzeitig aber auch die jeweils eigene Persönlichkeit der Teilnehmenden. Uns erscheint das als ein sehr wertvoller und therapeutischer Prozess für die von ständigen Angriffen des Gegners traumatisierten Kinder und Jugendlichen. Dem zur Zeit äußerlich Unausweichlichen setzen Sie mit Ihren Aktionen positive Erfahrungswelten entgegen!
Die Gemälde und Zeichnungen, die wir als Jury bewerten durften, sind sehr ausdrucksstark und haben bei unseren Jury-Mitgliedern Staunen und Bewunderung hervorgerufen. Die Auswahl war dementsprechend schwierig. Aber so sind Wettbewerbe nun, Reihungen müssen vorgenommen werden. Gleichzeitig gratulieren wir allen Kindern und Jugendlichen für ihre Kunstwerke! Alle sind wunderbare Werke!
In diesem Sinne und mit größtem Respekt für Ihre Arbeit, bitten wir Sie das Preisgeld als einen bescheidenen Beitrag zu Ihrem Wirken entgegenzunehmen. Wir sind überzeugt, dass es weitere nachhaltige Ergebnisse ermöglichen wird, weitere Samen des Friedens und der Gerechtigkeit!

Ukraine-Painting Contest – Message
Dear Prof. Sheremeta!
Shalom – Words of Peace and Joy!
It is with deliberation that we extend to you this biblical greeting as an expression of our Christian faith and our hope, as an expression of our solidarity with you and the many people in the Ukraine who have to live through the unimaginable hardships of war. With this message we also extend our gratitude to you for the privilege to participate in your initiative to provide space to children and young people, people in your neighbourhood in general to breath freely, to experience courage, to express their creativity and thus to experience the healing presence of God.
We think of the interior spaces and of the exterior spaces: the interior spaces in which you hold your youth contests; and the outdoor spaces, your “gardens of hope.” When the children and the youth can move around in these interior and exterior spaces freely, protected and creatively, they create and shape their own personal interior spaces – their souls – in a way that permits seeds of peace and the zest for life to grow and flourish.
This year it is the fifteenth contest “responsibility for creation” that you have organized, and the fourth in times of the hardships of a war triggered by Russia attacking the territory and the people of your country. We are convinced that throughout all those years many valuable seeds have been planted and grown in all those participating in your activities.
In such distressful times your approach is particularly helpful and offering healing: the experience of the positive, of a non-violent cooperation in contests, bolstering on the one side the spirit of community and solidarity, and on the other side invigorating the individual personality. To us this appears as an invaluable therapeutic process for the children and youth traumatized by the frequent attacks of the war enemy. To what is inevitable in the exterior, with your activities you are subtending worlds of affirmation and benevolence!
The paintings and drawings that we were privileged to evaluate as a jury are very expressive and have engendered amazement and admiration among the members of our jury. The process of selection was thus correspondingly difficult. But that is part of what contests are about, rankings have to be done. At the same time, we congratulate all children and young adults to their works of art! All of them are wonderful creations!
Having said this and with the greatest of respect for your dedicated work, we ask you to accept the prize money as a humble contribution to your apostolic work. We are convinced that it will lead to more sustainable results, more seeds of peace and justice!
